EPIC Awarded STOP Act Grant

We are happy to announce that EPIC was recently awarded a STOP Act (The Sober Truth On Preventing Underage Drinking) grant from SAMHSA! We are grateful for this funding opportunity and the ways it will allow us to continue to serve our community. We look forward to sharing more about that with you all in the days and weeks to come.

Unfortunately, we also know that the current trauma individuals and communities are experiencing as a result of the COVID-19 crisis may make many in our community more vulnerable to substance abuse and related risks. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) describes trauma as “an event or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as life-threatening or emotionally or physically harmful. This trauma has lasting effects on an individual’s ability to function socially, mentally, physically, spiritually or emotionally.”

We here at EPIC understand the impacts of trauma and we know that substance abuse prevention is more relevant now than ever. You can count on us to continue working to prevent substance abuse by supporting and increasing opportunities to further develop a healthy community.
