We are excited to have with us for a second time Ginger Meyer, MSW, LCSW, CCTP. Ms.Ginger Meyer is the Clinical Director for Children’s Medical and Mental Health Resource Network a program of SIU School of Medicine. The focus and title of her presentation is, Extraordinary Behaviors! Acting out or an Attempt to Self-Regulate? Is it For Attention or a Chance to Connect?
Program Description: What does early childhood trauma do to the bodies and brains of our young children? How does it relate to the extraordinary behaviors we see daily in our children? What can I do to help children in my classroom or professional practice tone down the behaviors and ramp up self-regulations skills? This workshop will discuss why trauma may have an impact on a child’s learning and behavior. The presenter, a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, will also give hands on activities and suggestions to help teachers and other professionals to connect to children in a positive way, while coaching them to master self-regulation skills. This workshop will be active and will require participation in some of the activities.
