EPIC

Please Welcome EPIC’s Practicum Student Destany McDaniel

My naDestanyme is Destany McDaniel and I am majoring in social work and minoring in criminal justice at Southeast Missouri University. I am from Hornersville MO, and moved to Cape Girardeau to attend school. I enjoy spending time with my friends, going to the movies, and reading. This is my last semester as a student and I am looking forward to all the amazing opportunities EPIC will offer.  I am excited to see how the skills and knowledge that I have learned in the classroom can be utilized in the “real world.”  I am very appreciative of the opportunity to practice and develop my skills over the next sixteen weeks at EPIC.  I am ecstatic to be involved in the EPIC Pal’s program and to learn more about the EPIC coalition. After graduation, I am tentatively planning to move to a larger city and go to graduate school for a Masters in Social Work and a Juris Doctorate.  I am passionate about substance abuse treatment and awareness. I aspire to work at the state and national levels to change and adjust policy to improve access to treatment as well as treatment methods.

Joining together in a common effort to build a healthy and safe community, reducing the risks of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs while promoting the healthy attitudes and behaviors of youth in Southeast Missouri.
